Welcome to the official website of Franziskus Hisashi Nakajima.

Franziskus is an artist of German/Japanese origin. He graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam, in 2007 and has since moved to Sydney, Australia, after having lived in Kamakura, Japan in 2008-2009.

His work includes sculpture/installation, video, painting and photography.

"Typical for his work is that he shows us in different ways an interpretation of the reality. He builts an installation within an installation and shows the viewer works within works. [...] With a minimum of resources Nakajima evokes memories and emotions people can recognize as their own, but can also start doubting again, because it can also be a long distant memory of a movie they once have seen."
